Cornish Cider Run 2016 – Come and see the Event photographs here
Cornish Cider Run 2016 – 16th July
After an amazing time last year I was delighted to be asked back to photograph The Cornish Cider Run 2016. No, its not an ‘organised pub crawl’ in fact it is an amazing 10 Kilometer obstacle race. Not just any race but a race with forty eight gloriously challenging obstacles, including an 800 meter river run against the flow, a leap over a fire pit, slippery water slides and lots of mud, lots, and lots of mud!!
As before The Cornish Cider Run was once again held at Bush farm in Cornwall. The ever increasing popularity of the event saw the number of competitors rise to nearly 400. Dean Burchell who runs DB fitness and Nutrition is the orchestrator of the Cornish Cider Run. Dean barely had time to finish the 300 mile Cornwall Coastal Challenge before he and his team set to work. The task being the creation and manufacture of obstacles to challenge even the most hardened obstacle course runners
Cornish cider run 2016 – Race Day
The atmosphere was pumping by the time I arrived at Bush farm on race day. I instantly realised the enormous effort that had gone into making this Cider run an even greatest success. As an illustration Paul Vice, Gold medallist from the Invictus games found the time to come and start the race. Not to mention the myriad of vendors and sponsors occupying the starting area. In view of the effort involved the sponsors had clearly chosen wisely to back this event. During conversation with competitors, many voted the event as being one of the toughest obstacle course races in the South West.
Below are a few of my favourite images from the day. If you would like to see all of the images, follow this link PETE BENNETT CORNISH CIDER RUN 2016 and use the access code CCR2016.
Altogether I had a terrific day at the race. Ultimately topped off by my amazing wife Sarah achieving 3rd place female in the toughest field to date. My congratulations and very well done. After Team DB had invited all competitors to meet for a few well-earned drinks and obviously to swap Cornish Cider Run stories at the Blues Bar on the Barbican, Plymouth. Celebrations went on well into the early hours of Sunday morning.
All that remains is for me to say a very well done to all of the competitors. To the DB fitness team and all of their volunteers – You organised a very slick event and you should be very proud, your efforts were appreciated by all.
